Dr. Matthew Burr
"Born in 1965, I grew up the third of four children in a military family. We lived in many interesting places, including South Korea and Germany. In the US, I've lived in Florida, Illinois, North Carolina and Pennsylvania.
I graduated from Shippensburg University in 1987 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication. I took a job at a local optical shop, and quickly felt that this type of work was more to my liking than journalism. I ended up working as an optician and manager for five years, while taking extra college courses on the side to prepare for optometry school.
In the Fall of 1992 I started at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia. While in school, I received special training in pediatric eye care at The Eye Institute, ocular disease training at Hahnemann University Hospital, and later performed laser procedures at the Hafter Light and Laser Institute. After graduation in 1996, I spent four years with a private optometry practice based in Carlisle. From there, my optometry practice was based in Hanover where I remained for 18 years. In April 2018, I joined Babineau Opticians.
My wife and I live in Boiling Springs and are the proud parents of one daughter and two sons (along with a cat and a pug!). I enjoy spending quality time with my family and also like working on my car, astronomy, listening to music, skiing, history, collecting ancient roman coins and powered paragliding. I look forward to meeting you and continuing the same level of care you've become accustomed to here at Babineau Opticians."
